Reno Organizations

The Reno-Sparks Indian Colony formed a federally recognized government in 1936 under the Indian Reorganization Act.  Located in Reno, Nev., the RSIC consists of 1,296 members from three Great Basin Tribes – the Paiute, the Shoshone and the Washoe.  The reservation lands consist of the original 28-acre Colony located in central west Reno and another 15,263 acres in Hungry Valley, which is 19 miles north of the Colony and 7 miles passed Spanish Springs High School on Eagle Canyon Drive.

The RSIC is a vibrant, expanding organization which balances our traditional teachings and rich culture with contemporary business methods and innovative governmental practices.  We employ more than 300 people; more than 150 are our own tribal members. 

Our mission is to offer opportunities for tribal members to improve their lives and enhance tribal values by making community programs, services, and projects available; while educating the general public about our history, culture and modern lifestyle.

Sierra Nevada Journeys is a 501(c)3 nonprofit that delivers innovative outdoor, science-based education programs for youth to develop critical thinking skills and to inspire natural resource stewardship.

Through multiple points of contact, our classroom-based programs, overnight science camps, professional development for teachers, and parent engagement opportunities surround students with resources they need to succeed.

All programs are designed to foster higher cognition and build long-term student achievement.

Wandering Wyld is a Reno-based platform for local makers, creatives and micro-entrepreneurs to start, grow and evolve their businesses. We believe arts, culture and small business are the heartbeat of a thriving city. Part incubation and part community gathering space, we are grassroots and on a mission to promote vibrant communities and healthy, creative economies.

Wild Horse Productions in Carson City, NV is a non-profit organization founded in 2007 with the mission to enhance and enrich the community through performing arts classes, live theater, outreach programs and other educational programs. Wild Horse Productions is comprised of two divisions: Wild Horse Children’s Theater for youth audiences and Wild Horse Stage Company for adults and young adults. Wild Horse Productions is the resident company at Carson City's Brewery Arts Center.
