Ring in the New Year With a Concert Like Vienna's or New York's, but Right Here in Genoa!
Celebrate New Year's with TOCCATA-Tahoe Symphony Orchestra and Chorus's new concert: “Bring on the Bubbly/Adios 2019,” at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 29th in the elegant Genoa Lakes Golf Club Ballroom. We’ll ring in the New Year in style (and you’ll still be able to celebrate on New Year’s Eve in a different style!)
Can’t make it to Vienna or New York? Our Genoa concert has more dancing, more singing, more everything: Genoa is about to become the go-to venue for a New Year—themed concert! We've got waltzes, a tango and a polka for dancing; Broadway tunes and opera arias, and light classics just for fun.
Start a new New-Year's tradition this year by joining us at Northern Nevada's only classical New Year's concert, right in your neighborhood! Not only do we have the traditional Strauss waltzes: we’ve got a tango and a polka, so bring your dancing shoes! (Oh, and you won’t want to miss “Tales from the Genoa Woods,” conducted by the winner of our baton auction!!) You’ll go on a “Sleigh Ride” with Leroy Anderson and a wild horseback ride with “William Tell.” We bring you a “Trumpeter’s Lullaby” (by Anderson), love songs and battle cries from “Oklahoma” and “Man of La Mancha,” plus “Carmen,” the “Waltz of the Flowers” and more!
To let you rest between dances, you’ll hear Broadway tunes and opera arias from our beloved regulars, including Stuart Duke, baritone; Liudmila Mullin, mezzo soprano, Anne Davidson, soprano, and Robert Bousquet, tenor. For a special treat, guest artist and professional opera singer Jamie Bonetto joins us for an aria by Offenbach. And since we’re celebrating New Year’s Eve, we close the concert with the rollicking ensemble number from Verdi’s La Traviata, “Let’s drink from the joyful cups”!
