Veterans Memorial Plaza in Sparks, NV
The Nevada Veterans Memorial Plaza is a state-wide memorial created to honor all veterans—especially those from Nevada who gave their lives so we could remain a free and sovereign nation.
Our founder, the late Mayor Ron E. Smith, was deeply passionate about our country, our freedom, and those who served. His vision inspired this project. The memorial wall bears the names of over 900 men and women from Nevada who made the ultimate sacrifice.
Since 2014, we’ve been raising funds from generous individuals and organizations to build the Plaza at the Sparks Marina. We believe it’s our duty to honor the veterans who secured our rights and freedoms, and to create a lasting space that commemorates both past and future generations of service members.
The Plaza will feature the names of 896 fallen Nevadan veterans, provide a place for teaching and reflection, and serve as a gathering spot for veteran organizations.
When complete, the NVMP will include the Ron E. Smith Educational Path, named in memory of our co-founder. This path will highlight Nevada’s contributions to our nation’s freedom and serve as a space for events, education, remembrance, and storytelling—a meaningful stop for families, veterans, and visitors alike.
Thanks to the people of Sparks, this Plaza is becoming a reality. As you learn more about the project, we invite you to consider donating or volunteering. We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and it’s only through our community’s support that we can bring this vision to life.
The Ron E. Smith Educational Pathway will feature kiosks on suicide awareness, POW/MIA, major wars, and more. These stations will both honor those who served and educate future generations. Sponsorships are available—please reach out if you'd like more information.
