A part of the Washoe County park system, Wilbur D. May Center includes a museum, botanical gardens, an arboretum and a museum shop. It's a delightfully eclectic celebration of the life of Wilbur May, a philanthropist who wore many hats during his life. The permanent museum exhibits provide a fascinating glimpse into a certain period of history in the nation and in the world, while changing and traveling presentations are celebrations of science, adventure and education. The museum shop carries an extensive selection of items from around the world, including home decor, jewelry, art, kids items and books on local history and flora and fauna. Fair-trade items sold in the shop include scarves, basketry and home decor. Shop purchases enable the museum to continue bringing educational and fun exhibits to thousands of visitors each year.
