Nearing its 50th season, Reno Philharmonic Orchestra continues to have more than 30 performances each year spanning musical selections from classical to pop. Many performances are held at Reno's Pioneer Center for the Performing Arts, but the orchestra also brings music to the Carson Valley and Lake Tahoe regions as well. The Classix Series that runs from October through April each year represents the mainstay of music from classical symphonies and concertos to 20th-century symphony classics. Summer, family and holiday concerts add more opportunities to enjoy the orchestra and chorus. Creating a love of music is also important. Reno Philharmonic supports a Youth Orchestra and sends groups of orchestra musicians to local schools. There are also many events held at Reno business venues that promote musical education and additional information about a specific composer being featured in the Classix Series.
