Wandering Wyld, Honoring the Women Who've Shaped Us
Event Description:

Join local poet Jillian Makoutz from Grass and Sky Press for a poetry workshop that encourages you to honor a special woman in your life! We're delighted to welcome Jillian for this special celebration of International Women's Day.

We'll begin with a discussion about the process of honoring a woman in your life, and different ways you can approach that concept, as well as some writing prompts to get your creativity flowing. Jillian will also share a few of her own poems on the subject as she teaches.

Then, we'll move into writing time as you create an original poem or written piece that honors a woman in their life that has shaped who they are. You my find it meaningful to bring a photo or some sort of memorabilia of the woman you are honoring to help inspire you. This is not a requirement, however!

After writing, we'll take time at the end of the class for those who would like to read their pieces aloud.

All materials are provided, including a journal and blackwing pencil for all your writing needs, so just plan to bring yourself, a momento (if you'd like!), and maybe some kleenex. You'll also recieve a signed copy of Jillian Makoutz's book, Four Seasons in the Sierra.
