The Basement

The Basement in Reno is living proof that a city needn’t succumb to decay and deterioration when the years begin to pile up on it. It can instead become renewed and revitalized and move into the future with more hope and potential than ever before. Yes, it sounds a bit hyperbolic, but all you have to do is visit this hip hotspot for yourself and you’ll see that it’s not far from the truth. The Basement in Reno is a collection of businesses, primarily food and retail shops, in the vein of quirky and crafty. The modern, Millennial atmosphere is in delicious juxtaposition to the building in which it is housed (a classic historical post office in the style of Art Deco, one of the architectural gems of downtown Reno). While the main floor of this structure is now home to a furniture and home furnishings store, the basement (and hence, The Basement) boasts such tenants as a juice bar that features raw ingredients, a florist who lets you build your own bouquet, a local and organic salad bar, a shop catering exclusively to men with facial hair as well as retailers of coffee drinks, sweets, clothing and more. The Basement in Reno makes hanging out fun again and gives you a glimpse of the Biggest Little City’s true potential.
