Footsteps Into Story: How Travel and Hiking Inspire Writing

Nevada Humanities, Footsteps into Story: How Travel and Hiking Inspire Writing
Event Description:

Join Nevada Humanities and author Laura Newman for an outdoor walk and talk about how she incorporates her travels and long-distance hikes into her fiction writing. Come wind through the woods at Galena Creek Regional Park and get inspiration on using the globe as your personal muse. During this Sagebrush to Sandstone program, participants will have the opportunity to ask questions and glean writing tips from Newman about gathering inspiration from the outdoors and how movement awakens creativity.

About the Author: Laura Newman is the author of the short story collection The Franklin Avenue Rookery for Wayward Babies (Delphinium Press, 2022) and The Darling of the Black Rock Desert — Three Novellas of the West (Delphinium Press, 2025).
