Historian Dr. Dana Bennett will present a lecture highlighting the first women to serve in the Nevada Legislature following the passage of women’s suffrage in 1914.
The talk explores the groundbreaking election of Sadie Hurst of Reno in 1918 and the subsequent service of 20 additional women over the next four decades. Representing both major political parties and nearly every region of the state, these legislators helped shape Nevada’s political landscape through their leadership, policy work, and lasting contributions.
