In the historic Crystal Springs Ice and Water building in downtown Reno, Brasserie Saint James is surely the only microbrewery in the area that has its own artesian well as the water source for its brews. Maybe that’s why it has won so many medals at regional and national competitions. Brewers highly dedicated to the fine craft of beer-making present a beer selection that includes around 10 ales and lagers (and more) on tap, plus special seasonal offerings. In addition to pints at the brasserie, you can buy a growler of your favorite and even get $5 off the price if you buy during happy hour. This is a combination taproom and restaurant. Sit at the bar if you’re just interested in a brew and bar snack. If you want a meal, cozy booths are on the other side of the bar. In warm months you can sit outside under a large canopy. The pub-style menu includes worldly renditions of soups and salads, a variety of starters (including beer-friendly soft pretzels), sandwiches and brunch offerings such as eggs Benedict and chicken and waffles.
