If you are looking for a place to play a quick nine, work on your short game or play a round with the kids, you should head for The Links at Kiley Ranch in Sparks. The 9-hole executive links-style course has nine par 3 holes that play to a maximum yardage of 1,391 yards and 910 yards from the shortest of the three tees. The public course opened in 2006 and was designed by Mark Miller and LPGA Hall of Famer Patty Sheehan. You can play year-round, weather permitting. It is an ideal course for juniors and novices. The facility is very walking friendly but has nine electric carts, pull carts and clubs available for rental. Greens fees are very reasonable, and there is a 10-round punch pass that offers a significantly reduced per-round rate. There is a 3,500-square-foot practice putting green that sits below the balcony of the nicely appointed cottage-style clubhouse. A fun after-round experience is to get in on the daily Putt for a Buck contest off the balcony while enjoying a cold one and a snack. The course also offers Foot Golf, the new craze game that incorporates elements of soccer into a golf-like game.
