West of the downtown area is a huge park with 49 acres of fields and ponds, two smaller kid-play areas, a skate park and a swimming pool. This is the site of the annual Earth Day festival as well as other community get-togethers. Idlewild Park also has the only rose garden in the state that is certified by the American Rose Society. It is 1 acre of flowers with some 200 varieties of roses.
