In Midtown just south of the Truckee River, the community-owned-since-2005 Great Basin Food Co-op is a grocery store like none other. It sells locally grown foods from health and environmentally conscious producers as well as other organic products, hard-to-find items and an extensive selection of health foods and vitamins on its second floor. Great Basin Food Co-op also hosts a number of community organic food-based programs and invites locals to join its membership.
