You say you're looking for a good, old neighborhood pub, the kind where everybody knows your name? If you're of the Irish persuasion (and even if you're not!) you could do worse than to check out Ceol Irish Pub, right near where California Avenue runs into South Virginia. The weekly specials and events here include a killer happy hour, Tune-In Tuesdays, Whiskey Wednesdays and Pub Quiz Night on Thursdays. And given that "Ceol" is the Gaelic word for music, it is entirely appropriate that there's often live music on Fridays and Saturdays with no cover.
