Reno’s sunny climate is great for golfing, especially in the shoulder seasons when it’s neither snowy nor hot. And the best season of all is fall, when the weather is more predictable and the afternoon winds have died down. Washoe Golf Course
Golf courses are not typically centrally located, but Washoe Golf Course is right in the center of the action in southwest Reno, making it an extremely accessible place to hit the greens. Hidden in plain sight, this valuable patch of land provides views of the surrounding foothills as well as Downtown Reno. At this full 18-hole championship course, you’ll enjoy a scenic day under the cottonwoods with glimpses of fall foliage visible in the surrounding neighborhoods. This is known as Reno’s most affordable golf course, offering a variety of day use and membership options open to the general public.

Lakeridge Golf Course
The other Southwest golf course in Reno is Lakeridge Golf Course, which bills itself as “semi-private” but still offers daily drop-in rates and membership options not tied to place of residency. Situated within the foothills, Lakeridge offers views of downtown Reno and the artificial Lake Stanley that is part of the Lakeridge Golf Course. Several holes sit right along the water’s edge. The sunshine here gets interrupted by a mix of cottonwoods and pine trees that thrive up in the foothills. Lakeridge has repeatedly been named Reno’s best golf course, and plans are in the works to expand its grounds to include a new hotel that will transform the club into an amazing resort.

D’Andrea Golf
D’Andrea Golf in Sparks is situated deep in desert terrain, showcasing epic downtown and Sierra views amid high-desert surroundings. Here, the contrast between golf green and barren sagebrush hillsides is striking and sudden. This nine-hole course skirts through one of Sparks’ nicest, newest neighborhoods in the eastern hills with one large artificial lake. And D’Andrea is open to the general public for golf sessions.

Red Hawk Golf and Resort
Farther north in Sparks is the Red Hawk Golf and Resort. Red Hawk is as much golf as it is resort. It has a bit of a desert wetland vibe to it, with a large lagoon at the center of the golf course and many sandy patches scattered throughout the green. A vast array of dining options, a swimming pool and a fitness center make this an ideal place to spend the day with the whole family. With both private member and public tee-off options, this golf course is sure to make everyone happy.
