The rules surrounding COVID-19 keep changing as the virus and its variants continue to mutate and spread across communities in the United States and worldwide. In the Reno/Tahoe/Carson area, most businesses are open and back to full capacity but still ask that people wear facemasks in indoor public settings and maintain social distancing.
According to the State of Nevada County Masking Mandate Guide, businesses within counties that show alarming or high transmission risk levels must require that all people – vaccinated and unvaccinated – to wear a mask that covers the mouth and nose to help inhibit the spread of COVID-19.
Restaurants, shops, gyms, cannabis dispensaries, hotels, libraries and casinos are operating at normal capacity. Ski resorts such as Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe, Diamond Peak and Heavenly Mountain Resort require skiers and snowboarders to wear masks in their lodges, bars and any other indoor setting. Most businesses have hand-sanitizing stations throughout their establishments and encourage their patrons to wear their mask properly and wash their hands frequently.
