Celebrating Easter in Reno

By Dan Bablinskas | Monday, March 23, 2026

Spring is in the air in Reno (in a hot, summery way, so far), and Easter is just around the corner. This year, Easter Sunday is on April 5.

In the lead-up to that day, there are a bunch of Easter events all around town, so it's time to make some plans. With this warm weather, you’ll want to get outdoors and enjoy the transition to longer days than nights.

Tahoe Philharmonic Easter Concerts

Classical music lovers can rejoice! The Tahoe Philharmonic Orchestra & Chorus will be performing three heartfelt Easter concerts in and around Reno. Don't miss their renditions of Bach’s St. Matthew Passion and Handel’s Messiah. These are two of the most passionate works in the history of classical music that recount the Christian story of sacrifice, redemption and new life – all very fitting for the Easter season.

Their three performances are scheduled for the following days and times. For full event details and to get tickets, visit Tahoe-Philharmonic.com.

  • Tuesday, March 31, 7 p.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Cathedral in Reno (St. Matthew Passion only)
  • Saturday, April 4, 4 p.m. at CVIC Hall in Minden
  • Easter Sunday, April 5, 4 p.m. at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Reno

Easter Egg Hunts for Kids Around Town

Reno is chock full of Easter egg hunts. There are too many small neighborhood goings-on to list, but a few big, open-to-the-public events stand out.

The 4th Annual EggFest will be held at Shadow Mountain Park on Saturday, March 28 from 10 a.m. to noon. There will be 50,000 eggs to find plus food trucks, games and activities, raffles and so much more. Bring a nonperishable food item to donate if possible.

The Biggest Little Easter Egg Hunt & Resource Fair is also being held on March 28. Sponsored by Washoe CASA Foundation and Boys & Girls Clubs of Truckee Meadows, it's a free egg hunt and health fair with 40,000 eggs and lots of activities and screenings. It's held at 2680 E. 9th Street in Reno.

Reno Public Market will have its Easter Egg Hunt inside the public market from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Easter Sunday. Hope Community Church has an Easter Egg Dash at 9 a.m. on Easter Sunday, and this one includes free breakfast. St. John’s Church also hosts an Easter Egg Hunt at 10 a.m. before their 10:30 service.

For those in South Reno, Washoe Lake State Park will put on Easter Egg Hunt hosted by the South Valley Fire Department in the expansive Washoe Lake State Park.

Even More Easter Events

Who says Easter egg hunts are for kids alone? No, I’m not talking about adults here, but rather the furry, friendly creatures that many people love as though they were their kids. The Village at Rancharrah is putting on a PAW-Some Easter Egg Hunt for cats and dogs on Easter Sunday. Imagine seeing pups and felines scurry around one of Reno’s poshest outdoor malls in search of colored eggs. It’s sure to be a riot.

Farther afield, in Carson City, there’s the Eggstravaganza at the Carson City Railroad Museum, taking place from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on both Saturday, April 4 and Easter Sunday. Train rides are included in admission, as well as live entertainment and a myriad of Easter-themed activities that will keep your kids entertained for hours on end. Also featured in this event is the Bunny Express, a special train with the Easter Bunny!

Daffodils in Bloom Show

It's not Easter-themed per se, but the May Arboretum Society's Daffodils in Bloom Show at Wilbur D May Center at Rancho San Rafael Park in Reno is apt activity for Easter weekend. On Friday from 1 to 4 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. you can see a wide range of daffodil varieties in all their glory. Find more information at MayArboretumSociety.org.

The spring spirit is in full force in Northern Nevada with Easter events galore to prove it.
